"Whitey
Was born Francis Kincaid in Kent county, Michigan 13 June, 1839. Was raised a farmer and worked the land until the outbreak of the war of the rebellion. Joined the Michigan 6th Calvary on 6 September 1862.
Served in the East for the entire war and was wounded at Five Forks, Virginia in '65.
Was dubbed "Whitey" because by the end of the war my hair was snow white even though I was but 27 years old. After the war I stayed in the Army and served at different posts throughout the reconstruction time. In 1876 I was sent to Fort Huachuca in the territory of Arizona. Silver was discovered in the San Pedro valley in 1877.
Tired of the Army life, I left and went to make my mark as a miner. It wasn't long before I knew that mining was not for me and I began to take jobs with the ranchers in the Tombstone area. I joined up with a rancher named Clanton and soon fell into cattle rustling from the Mexicans and selling the beef to locals. Old man Clanton and four others were killed while bringing stolen Mexican cattle north in August of 1881 and I decided to move on.
While heading North I met Joe Stillwell near Wilcox. We robbed the local bank and headed northwest ending up in this little mining town of Cyanide Springs. I hope to find a quiet life here.
